Hrossaborg in Northeast Iceland is a sight to behold! A tephra and scoria crater with the wonderful name 'Horse Castle', it was once used as a natural shelter for the steeds of travelers. Being over 500 metres (1640 ft) around, it’s had its shape distorted by floods over time giving it an opening in the eastern wall. To get there, drive along Route 1 and take the F-Road(F-88), during summer,to this incredible destination which is close to famous landmarks such as Dettifoss waterfall. Book one of the numerous self-drive tours to experience this truly unique site.
