Stuðlagil Canyon is a hidden wonder in East Iceland that's worth visiting. The canyon is known for having the largest number of basalt rock columns in Iceland, as well as an impressive glacial river with its mesmerizing blue-green hue. At the nearby waterfall, Studlafoss, hikers can witness the force of the river that created this gorgeous canyon. With its untouched terrain, diverse wildlife such as pink-footed geese, and lush landscapes, this is definitely an experience not to be missed. To get there, follow Route 1 North from Egilsstadir and then take road 923 and Jökuldalsvegur, where you'll be able to park in a lot close to the canyon and cross a beautiful white bridge to the canyon. So grab your hiking boots and head on out to Stuðlagil!
