Hellnar is an old fishing village situated on the westernmost part of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, renowned for its unique rock formations. It is a perfect spot to explore the area's cultural attractions, beach, bird sights, towns and villages and rock formations. Previously, it was one of the largest fishing stations in Iceland with the earliest written record of seafaring recorded since 1560. Currently, tourists visit this region on a tour of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and relish the spectacular scenery, witnessing incredible lava formations and colonies of birds while admiring the glacial capped volcano Snӕfellsjökull. Visitors can go seal watching at Ytri Tunga beach and marvel at the stunning Lóndrangar sea stacks and the picturesque mountain Kirkjufell. With so much beauty to appreciate, this area is truly a sight to behold.
