Zpráva od Roberto Luigi Pagani

If you thought that artists such as Björk, Sigur Rós or Bríet simply emerged out of a vacuum, you were very wrong. Iceland had a very rich popular music tradition which has not become as famous internationally as contemporary musicians, but which is just as fascinating. The Folk Music Centre is found in the house of Bjarni Þorsteinsson, who collected the folk music tradition of Iceland, starting from religious music written in Latin during the catholic period, all the way to the little songs chanted by people while at work during his time. Here you can learn a lot about the music tradition and even try and play the two national Icelandic instruments: the langspil and the fiðla.
