Systrastapi Rock is a unique natural attraction located west of the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, in South Iceland. This historical rock hill is named after two nuns who lived at a Benedictine convent and are believed to be buried there. It’s a great adventure for adventurers of all ages to climb the rock using the rope that has been left attached to the cliff side. According to Icelandic folktales, the two sisters have nefarious, yet entertaining pasts that make the experience even more memorable. By standing atop Systrastapi Rock, one can savour amazing views, as well as admire the nearby basalt-column waterfall also known as Rauðárfoss. It's a perfect to explore this area while on a self drive tour in Iceland and have an unforgettable time!
