Phimai Historical Park is a large Khmer temple located in the town of Phimai, Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand. A majestic presence on the landscape, the park contains impressive architecture from the 11th to 12th centuries built in the Baphuon, Bayon and Khmer temple style. The site marks one end of the ancient Khmer Highway connecting it to Angkor and was protected by the Thai government in 1936. Visitors to the park can discover the mysterious ancient history that entwines with theories of Devaraja cults and animist beliefs as they explore the pre-Angkorian Buddhist inscriptions, statues and sculptures found within the sacred premises of the park. It is an interesting, educational experience for all ages!
