Alpe di Siusi is a wonderful area to explore! The area is really large! In the summer it offers multiple activities - biking, hiking or simply relaxing. Winter is a good time for winter sports.
GETTING TO ALPE DI SIUSI:
Alpe di Siusi can only be reached by one road if you come by car. The road is closed between 09:00 and 17:00 (unless you have a hotel in the area). You need to arrive early in the morning or in the evening. You can leave any time.
You can also get here by cable car Seiser Alm Aerial Cableway from Seis am Schlern. Round trip ticket costs 19€. For the latest information take a look HERE.
NOTE: It is also possible to reach Alpe di Siusi directly from Ortisei/Sankt Ulrich (in Seceda area) via cable car. For recent opening hours and prices check this website. This cable car takes you directly to Hotel Sonne. This is the area of Alpe di Siusi that offers the best views of famous Langkofel. It's a good option if you're short on time and still want to explore Alpe di Siusi.
PARKING:
Once you enter the are there is only 1 free parking before reaching Compatsch. You will see a gravel parking lot on your right. The rest is paid and it's about 18€/day. From the free parking it takes 15 minutes to reach Compatsch.
WHAT TO DO:
The area is huge and offers many activities. You can rent a bike and cycle around. There are also multiple hiking paths you can take.
For the most famous and picturesque view of Langkofel we recommend hiking from Compatsch to Sporthotel Sonne. It is a very nice and pleasant walk without any incline. It will take you around 1-1.5 hour one way. There are some cozy Alpine mountain huts on the way. Have a snack of refreshing drink here.
Where to stay:
Either sleep in your car/van or choose one of many hotels in the area. Most of the hotels in Compatsch require a certain minimum length of stay (starting at 3 nights). If that's okay for you, here are our recommendations:
